Dog Health Symptoms Adding Up?
My vet thinks I’m completely a paranoid pet parent when I talk about all these symptoms, so I wanted to run them by all you smarties here and see what you think.
1. Very dry nose, started when she started taking Thyroid pills. She was having some other weird symptoms, so I dropped it to half dose. Her nose has somewhat gotten wet again, but I’m still having to put on Vaseline. But it isn’t cracking and bleeding any longer.
2. Very runny nose. Very runny. Leaves huge puddles wherever she lays.
3. Recurring eye infections (vet says pink eye), lots of drainage, lots of itching and scratching her eyes.
4. Ringworm on her belly.
5. Biting and chewing her front paws constantly.
No behavior changes, and all this has started within the past few months. I have been changing her food, and finally settled on Innova Senior, she’s been on that for about six weeks. She’s 11, no real health issues, all her organs are fine, just on the one Thyroid pill, and that started the end of April of this year.
Do all these symptoms add up to something, or is it just a coincidence that it is all happening at the same time? Any ideas? Thanks!

If you read in detail alot of this is occasionally linked to the thyroid issue. I do not think you are paranoid, no one knows your pup like you do and you sound like you are doing a great job!! Good luck with everything.

Look up side effects for the tyroid pill. Make she is reacting to it.

Could be a reaction to the thyroid pills. Changing a dog’s food often can also affect them. Give her time to adjust to all the changes with medication and what not and then see how she’s doing.

Check out this group on yahoo.com: The Truth about Vaccines. The biting and chewing her paws is often indicative of vaccine reactions. So are allergies. Your vet is not going to admit to that.

WOW! That’s a lot of problems. FIRST - You have to note that just like our meds a dogs meds have serious side effects! One pill is just going to add the the other side effects and on and on…
Don’t “just” take advice from western medicine. Look into alternatives too. You would be surprised at the amount of herbal meds that can be used for simple things or more detailed ailments like thyroid. Even in your pet. Parasites and fleas are said to be effected by garlic, parsley is great for breath, flax seed is great for their skin and coat.
So many things we buy now days on the market are filled with chemicals. My dog itched terribly until I found out that sodium laureth sulfate was the culprit. Check the back of your dogs shampoo bottle - yours too (if your brave) and then look it up in the encyclopedia - you will find that it is listed as a “skin irritant” how is that possible? I don’t know how its “allowed” to be in our soaps that’s for sure! Check out a few of these places and see what you think….
